Water has carved out its path through the deep gorges, majestic cirques, and some of Europe's most famous grottoes and chasms.
Its wooded plateaus and valleys, shaped by agricultural actvity, host a remarkable diversity of plants and animals.
Seven natural regions make up this magnificent and unique land: The Four Mountains, the Coulmes, the Drome Vercors, the Royans, the Diois, the Triève, and the Gervanne.
To the north is the climate is severe, Alpine; to the south, the first hints of Mediterrannean mildness begin to be felt.
To discover the Vercors Regional Nature Park is to cross it on foot, on skis, or by bike. It is to lay your eyes on its surface beauty or to search deeper in the mountain's hidden secrets.
Throughout the four seasons, a surprise awaits at the bend in the path or the river, at the foot of a cliff, or at the summit of a rocky hill. Maybe it's an unexpected view, a strange animal, or a forgotten flower.
The multitude and variety of the landscapes, the diversity of the regional products make this mountain chain and ideal place to relax, but also to enjoy recreation activities, simply observe the natural beauty, or sample the local savors at restaurants and on farms.
