Gastronomy

An exceptional culinary heritage

Rich with an exceptional culinary heritage, Grenoble, and more globally, the Dauphiné, fully understands the meaning of the word gastronomy--that of secular traditions with recipes and ingredients inherited from the grounds and people that fashioned Grenoble and its surrounding region. Thus potato gratin, crozet pasta, bugnes beignets, ravioles, and caillettes have stood the test of time and remain favorites even today.

But the Y-shaped territory formed by Grenoble's surrounding valleys also includes products and ingredients recognized by the entire gastronomic world. The AOC-certified Grenoble walnut obviously holds prime place on the list of these trademark products. On this prestigious list, we also find AOC Vercors-Sassenage blue cheese and the famous liqueur of the Chartreuse fathers.

It's a blessing for the visitor to discover this gourmet fare skilfully prepared by the young chefs of Grenoble. They concoct fine dishes that are innovative yet respectful of the local references and their sublime culinary possibilities.
